Block printing

Passed down through generations, and dating back to 220 AD, the timeless art of block printing involves dipping intricately hand carved wooden blocks into natural dyes and then repeatedly stamping them onto fabric.

It is a joy & privilege to watch & learn from these talented craftsmen, their dexterity and precision is something to marvel at. I like to think I am playing a small part in helping to preserve this ancient craft.

The production scale is always very small to ensure no waste or excess stock and because it is entirely handmade there are often slight variations in the colour and print.

These traditional manufacturing techniques focus on slow and sustainable production and are keeping family businesses and small collaborative communities alive.
